Cross Oil is an American oil refinery that began in 1923. After many years in the refining business Cross Oil acquired an interest in expansion. They began to search for a blending and packaging division that would serve as a consumer for the refinery’s base oils. In 2000 they landed the Gard Corporation located in Kansas City, Kansas. The corporation consisted of the GardTM product line which Martin Lubricants continues to use today. In efforts to complement the GardTM brand, the XtremeTM line was developed in 2001.
As an addition to the existing refinery, Martin Lubricants, formerly known as Cross Packaging, was built on the Arkansas grounds in 2002 where production began the same year. The Arkansas plant consists of warehouse and production facilities that span over 235,000 square feet and stores 5.3 million gallons of bulk storage. The Kansas facility extends over 65,000 square feet and contains 1.5 million gallons of bulk storage. The production facilities are comprised of eight high speed lines capable of filling various sizes; 2.6 ounce bottles to bulk tankers. All filling lines have automatic case packing and palletizing equipment; including a pail line capable of filling 10,000 pails per eight hour shift. Over two million gallons of bulk storage feed the packaging plant. A direct pipeline from the refinery eliminates transportation costs for all Martin base oils.
Martin Lubricants continues to manufacture the SynGardTM line of synthetic lubricants along with their conventional brands, XtremeTM and GardTM. Today, these three lines comprise a full offering of automotive and heavy duty engine oils, transmission fluids, hydraulic oils, gear oils, tractor transmission fluids, locomotive engine oils, functional fluids and industrial lubricants.
As well as producing SynGardTM, GardTM and XtremeTM product lines Martin is packaging private label products for major oil companies, farm store chains and auto parts wholesalers and is exporting finished lubricants throughout the world.
The Arkansas facility has recently added a custom plastic manufacturing facility which produces plastic containers in various sizes.
Martin Lubricants continues to grow daily through facility expansions and meeting customers’ service and marketing needs.
